Dear Prime
Minister,
Our GTT Collective
(Gasy Tia Tanindrazana : malagasy patriots) was created in 2009
following the political events in Madagascar in late March.
Among the actions
it wants to prioritize so that the malagasy people finds back a
country where can reign a normal and peaceful life, the GTT
Collective particularly wishes to alert the global public opinion on
the trafic in precious woods (Rosewood) serious issue whose impact
risk becoming irreversible on a World Heritage site (Marojejy and
Masoala National Parks and Makira Protected Area)
Despite the
destruction of this heritage, the abusive exploitation of Madagascar
forets has increased greenhouse gas
emission and causes a climatic disturbance.
The GTT Collective
vigorously denounces this organized and illegal plundering whose
ecological consequence is now visibile in the massive, uncontrolled
and harmful deforestation to the malagasy ecosystem and in the
population’s daily life. This illegal business ruins the already
fragile economy of our country and this with the support, or the
active complicity of the current political « leaders ».
This disaster
linked to the political crisis caused by march 2009 coup d’Etat
proves the incapability of the current « leaders » to
manage a country that needs to plan a well-balanced policy concerned
about the well-being of its people and as well the natural heritage
préservation.
We take advantage
of the global meeting currently occuring in Copenhague to raise your
attention on this subject and ask you to be our spokesman inside this
assembly and with the attending political leaders.
