Foreign Minister the Democratic Republic of the Congo,
SADC REPRESENTANT.

   September 27, 2009

Your Excellency,
We, members of the GTT North America (an association of Malagasy diaspora living in the United States and  Canada in favor of constitutional order and human rights in Madagascar) would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude toward Your country, Congo and all SADC communities, including Comoros for your leadership about the  motion of order allowing U.N. member countries to vote against the planned address to the United Nations by the putschist Andry Rajoelina. Today, the world knows that leaders of an illegal coup d’etat can no longer simultaneously trample on the democratic will of a nation’s citizens and expect to address the august halls of the United Nations.
The GTT North-America still finds it necessary to report to you that violent repression continues to scar the daily reality of our fellow citizens in Madagascar. On Saturday September 26, 2009, a day after the rejection of Mr. Rajoelina at the United Nations, seven persons were injured at a shooting during an opposition press conference in Madagascar; seventeen were also arrested, tear gas and live bullets were used by a fringe of the military supporting Mr Rajoelina and his regime to repress a peaceful demonstration by unarmed people.
We all hope for a safe and swift return to the rule of constitutional law in Madagascar. We are
confident that the international community will continue to play an important role in seeing this process through to its fruition.
 With our sincere thanks,

GTT North America
